Born and raised in South Florida, Alice Malnic Lopes is a Brazilian-American with a passion for international studies and higher education. Alice grew up in a community with other Brazilian and Latin-American expat families, where she was exposed to the variety of cultures and backgrounds that exist in the melting pot that is South Florida. This shaped the way she viewed the world and served as the foundation to her interest in international studies.

She received her B.A. from Florida State University in International Affairs and English, and her academic concentrations were in Brazilian culture, modern languages, and postcolonial literary studies. As vice president of the Brazilian Student Association, she worked closely with the Portuguese department to help host and present in several webinar series, such as FSU’s Amazonia Week and Amazonia Now: Perspectives on a Region in Crisis.

She is currently working at UFIC as a Study Abroad Advisor to help UF students find programs abroad that can help them open doors and make lasting international connections. When she’s not working, you can find her singing at karaoke, listening to her records, or practicing guitar.
