The University of Florida is pleased to once again participate in the celebration of International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

IEW provides an opportunity to celebrate UF’s many efforts to create and promote programs of global focus, and this year we have much to celebrate. UF’s selection for a Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization from NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, certainly tops the list! This prestigious recognition is the culmination of many years of collective efforts by administrators, faculty and staff to position UF as a truly global university, engaged fully in understanding the world’s challenges and opportunities, and preparing our students for global citizenship.

Much of the work in support of UF’s global engagement is done daily by UFIC staff, working with many others across campus.  Collectively they manage and support over 6000 international students, some 2000 international scholars, and approximately 2500 UF students studying abroad.

We invite all UF colleges, departments, and centers to highlight their global reach by organizing international education activities during this important week, and we are here to help publicize your events through our promotional outlets.
