UF International Center Launches Global Fellows Directory to Strengthen Research Collaboration Across UF

The Global Fellows Directory connects UF faculty with international expertise, shared interests, and new opportunities for collaboration. Discover colleagues with international research experience. Explore diverse expertise across disciplines and regions. Build new collaborations and strengthen global partnerships.

Finding the right research collaborator often starts with a simple question: Who else is working on this?

The University of Florida International Center (UFIC) is making that question easier to answer with the launch of the Global Fellows Directory, a new online resource designed to help faculty discover colleagues with international research experience, identify shared interests in different disciplines, and build new collaborations.

The Global Fellows Directory brings together nearly 150 faculty who have participated in the UF  Global Fellows Program since its inception in 2016, creating a searchable network of researchers with international experience in diverse disciplines and regions.

The Global Fellows Program supports early-career faculty in expanding their international research through seed funding, mentorship, and specialized workshops focused on global research engagement. The new directory makes the expertise and connections developed through the program more visible and accessible to the broader UF community.

Faculty can explore Global Fellows’ academic backgrounds, research interests, global engagement activities, study regions, and faculty mentors across every cohort. The directory also serves as a networking resource that can help connect faculty from different departments, colleges, disciplines, and cohorts.

For a faculty member developing an international proposal, for example, the directory could help identify a colleague with complementary expertise or experience working in a particular country or region. For someone planning fieldwork or developing a new international partnership, it could provide a connection to a researcher who has already navigated a similar context or research setting.

The directory also extends the Global Fellows network beyond UF. Profiles of fellows who have since moved to other institutions remain part of the directory, recognizing their participation in the program while preserving connections that may lead to future interdisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations, an approach increasingly encouraged by research funding agencies.

Prospective applicants can also use the directory to learn more about the program and explore the diverse international research being conducted by Global Fellows throughout UF.

Developed by UFIC’s Office for Global Research Engagement (OGRE) and Communications team, the new directory is a resource for discovering expertise, making connections, and opening new possibilities for research collaboration.

Faculty interested in joining the next Global Fellows cohort can attend information sessions on September 17 and October 1. The sessions will provide an overview of the program and guidance on the application process for the 2026–2027 cycle. Additional details and registration information will be announced soon.
