Dr. Sharon Austin Visits VE Partners in the U.K.

Dr. Sharon Austin, Professor of Political Science, implemented a VE project called "Mobility, Migration, and Citizenship" in her Afro-Caribbean American Politics course last year in collaboration with Sociology Professors Cinnamon Bennett, Nazmy Villarroel-Williams, and Mixty Meneses Gutierrez at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom. Their students participated in an icebreaker activity and a live joint session, and they heard lectures from each professor on immigration in the U.S. and Europe, migration, and the historical and political challenges immigrants encounter in each country. This summer, Dr. Austin visited her partners in person, explored the Sheffield Hallam campus, and planned their next collaboration for the coming school year.
