Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explore multiple perspectives
  2. Communicate effectively across cultures
  3. Identify key health challenges in another context
Participating Countries: Colombia
Number of Participants: 20 UF students and 14 Colombian Students
Discipline: Engineering
UF Course Code & Name: BME6938 - Global Health in Biomedical Engineering
Project Duration: 7 weeks
Technology Tools: Zoom
Padlet
Flip
Sequence of Activities:
  • Icebreaker Activity: Students posted on a world map in Padlet one place where they would like to take their partners from the other class and why. This activity was done asynchronously before the students met for the first time.
  • Engagement Activity: Students from both classes attended a synchronous Zoom session to watch guest lectures by experts from each of their countries.
  • Collaboration Activity: Students were broken into small groups with members from both countries. They were required to meet with their group outside of class time to discuss global health challenges in their contexts.
  • Reflection Activity: After the small group discussions, the students posted videos in Flip about their findings and provided each other with feedback.
