In our commitment to further international teaching, the International Center supports faculty participation in international seminars, workshops, and study tours. These grants will support faculty travel to sites that are tied to global teaching. The International Center will fund participation of one faculty member per seminar, offered and organized by a third party provider. The grant covers the full cost of the seminar (up to $3,000) which includes accommodations, most meals, local transportation and airport transfers. Some providers also include airfare, but typically, the faculty member will be responsible for the cost of airfare and any other travel related costs.
IES Faculty Development Seminars
IES offers development seminars on a yearly basis for faculty members from the IES consortium. Seminars are sponsored by an IES Center or are jointly sponsored by IES and an overseas institution or a U.S. institution, and bring together U.S. faculty, international faculty, and local experts for an intellectual exchange of ideas. From language pedagogy workshops to seminars that explore recent changes in the E.U., IES seminars cover a wide-range of academic topics and attract many experts.
SIT Faculty Development Seminars
SIT offers two different kinds of faculty seminars: 1. Skill-building and training in best practices for integrating experiential learning activities into faculty- led study abroad programs. 2. Academically focused seminars that allow faculty to explore a topic in depth in a particular geographical and cultural context.
