John “Jack” Maguschak

Jack is a native of Tampa, Florida, and holds both a B.S. in International Affairs with a minor in Italian language and an M.A. in Italian Studies from Florida State University. Prior to starting his work as a J-1 Program Advisor for UFIC, Jack worked as a graduate instructor of Italian for FSU.

After earning his B.S., Jack moved to Milan, Italy to pursue his passion for international education and the Italian language. He taught Italian high school students English and foreign policy from an American perspective.

Amila Tica

Amila Tica moved to Gainesville in 2013 to pursue her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (Europe track) and English, as well as her minors in French & Francophone Studies and History from the University of Florida. While pursuing her degree, she began working for the International Center as a student assistant, and upon graduation in 2017 began working full time for the UFIC Office of Undergraduate Academic Programs as a Program Assistant and then the UFIC Office of Global Learning as a Program Support Specialist.

Luis Johnson

Luis, a Brazilian native, holds a law degree from PUC-Goias, Brazil and a Masters of Law (LL.M.) from Loyola University New Orleans. Prior to coming to the United States, he practiced as an attorney in Brazil. Luis moved to the U.S. to pursue a degree in immigration law because he was particularly interested in the U.S. perspective. While at Loyola, he assisted on pro bono immigration cases and worked with students and clients from various cultures and nationalities.

Jennifer North

Originally from Jacksonville, Jennifer earned her B.A. and M.A. in Latin American Studies at the University of Miami. She spent her time in Miami immersed in the dynamic, international culture of the city and globetrotting across Latin America. Throughout her travels, she lived with a Quechua family on the Bolivian countryside, interned in Cartago, Costa Rica, and studied in downtown Santiago, Chile. She also traveled to Panama, Haiti, Peru, Argentina, and Uruguay. Jennifer cannot wait to visit more countries in Latin America and beyond!

Maryshelly Quinones

Maryshelly Quinones is the UFIC Insurance advisor. She has worked at UFIC since 2010, assisting all the F visa status international students and J visa status students, scholars, and student interns with insurance compliance and questions about health insurance issues. She was born in Puerto Rico and later moved to the US.
