Les Popplewell

Les Popplewell joined the International Center in 2019. He is originally from Bakersfield, California and completed his Bachelors's in Human Resource Management with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. Les served in the United States Marine Corps and lived in Okinawa, Japan. 

Luis Johnson

Luis, a Brazilian native, holds a law degree from PUC-Goias, Brazil and a Masters of Law (LL.M.) from Loyola University New Orleans. Prior to coming to the United States, he practiced as an attorney in Brazil. Luis moved to the U.S. to pursue a degree in immigration law because he was particularly interested in the U.S. perspective. While at Loyola, he assisted on pro bono immigration cases and worked with students and clients from various cultures and nationalities.

Jennifer North

Originally from Jacksonville, Jennifer earned her B.A. and M.A. in Latin American Studies at the University of Miami. She spent her time in Miami immersed in the dynamic, international culture of the city and globetrotting across Latin America. Throughout her travels, she lived with a Quechua family on the Bolivian countryside, interned in Cartago, Costa Rica, and studied in downtown Santiago, Chile. She also traveled to Panama, Haiti, Peru, Argentina, and Uruguay. Jennifer cannot wait to visit more countries in Latin America and beyond!

Jesse Mixson

Jesse Mixson is the receptionist for Exchange Visitor Services at the University of Florida International Center.  She also provides back-up support for F-1 international student advisors in International Student Services.  She studied journalism at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications, with an emphasis on science journalism and editing.  Outside of work, she enjoys building computers, cooking, reading, and volunteering.

Maryshelly Quinones

Maryshelly Quinones is the UFIC Insurance advisor. She has worked at UFIC since 2010, assisting all the F visa status international students and J visa status students, scholars, and student interns with insurance compliance and questions about health insurance issues. She was born in Puerto Rico and later moved to the US.  

Carolyn Cesarotti

Carolyn originally moved up to Gainesville in 2012 to attend the University of Florida. The UF International Center quickly became her home away from home as she became a student assistant throughout her degree, participated in a study abroad at the University of Mannheim, and received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.
