The University of Florida has established procedures for entering into global collaborative relationships through international agreements facilitated through the UF International Center (UFIC). Please use the guidelines below to learn more about the different type of agreements that UFIC may facilitate.
Types of Agreements
- International Memorandum of Understanding: This agreement establishes a relationship between UF and an institution abroad, as a basis for pursuing areas of possible collaboration on matters of mutual interest.
- Reciprocal Exchange Agreement (Student Exchange): This agreement establishes an exchange program by which students from a partner institution can attend UF and UF students can attend the partner institution as non-degree seeking students. These agreements are reciprocal in e that the goal is to balance the number of students moving in each direction over the agreed term of the agreement.
- Study Abroad Contracts: Program contracts specify services rendered onsite by a third-party provider during a study abroad program. Study abroad contracts can be signed with host institutions, NGO’s, travel agencies, etc. These contracts specify housing, local transportation, classroom facilities, excursions, cost of tuition, etc. Please contact Dean Marta L. Wayne for more information.
- Other: Some agreements do not easily fit within the constraints of UFIC's pre-approved reciprocal or cooperative agreements. The International Center will be happy to evaluate such agreements on a case-by-case basis, consult the UF General Counsel’s office, and advise on how such agreements might be pursued. . Please contact Dean Marta L. Wayne with questions.
International agreements or Memoranda Of Understanding (MOUs) between UF and universities outside the United States may take many forms. Templates for International Memoranda of Understanding and Reciprocal Exchange Agreements have been approved by the UF General Counsel's office. Other templates, or if changes are to be made to the approved templates, will require review and may need approval from UF General Counsel before being signed by the Dean of UFIC. Please consult with the UFIC for any questions regarding these templates or other agreements.
