ADA Accessibility Requirements

Dear UF Global subscribers and contributors,

As part of UFIC’s efforts to comply with ADA accessibility requirements, we kindly ask that you review any materials you submit for the newsletter—event flyers, PDFs, announcements, etc.—to ensure they meet UF accessibility guidelines or are provided in accessible formats. Up until now, we have also amplified news and events from contributors who also publish their own newsletters. We will continue to do our best to share your content, provided it meets accessibility requirements.

If you are submitting images or flyers, please include the alt text you would like us to use to describe each image for accessibility purposes. This is especially important for events co-sponsored by the UF International Center.

  • For multi-day event flyers, note that character limits may make it challenging to provide full alt text. We suggest submitting individual event flyers.
  • Please also avoid using QR codes for digital content.
  • If you plan to add text on top of images, we recommend keeping it minimal or using no text.

Following these guidelines helps ensure that all members of our community can fully access and engage with the information we share. Guidance and resources for creating accessible content are available on the UF Accessibility website.

The deadline to become fully compliant is April 24. After this date, we will not be able to post announcements that do not meet accessibility requirements.

Thank you for helping us make our communications more accessible and inclusive.

Sincerely,
UFIC MarComm Team
