EU Implementation of Entry/Exit System on 10 April 2026
The European Union will begin full implementation of its new border management Entry/Exist System (EES) on Friday 10 April 2026. The EES is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals each time they cross the external borders of European countries using the system.
EES will replace manual passport stamps with digitally recorded entries and exits across EU borders. It relies on biometric data like facial images and fingerprints, which will be collected from travelers at airports and other border crossing points.
The system employs automated self-service kiosks to register and store traveler personal data for three years (unless a new passport is used).
Note: There are likely to be significant airport delays during the initial period of full EES implementation. Travelers should plan to arrive at EU airports around 90-120 minutes earlier than usual to account for EES-specific delays after 10 April.
Additional details on the system can be found at the European Union Official Website or at the EU Border Website.

Due to continuing delays at security checkpoints at U.S. airports, plan to arrive much earlier than usual to limit travel impacts. The MyTSA app provides airline passengers with 24/7 access to the most frequently requested airport security information on any mobile device.
