International Student Services (ISS) is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET, excluding holidays. Our team can be reached through Virtual Office Hours (VOH) on Zoom, email via the Contact Us form, or by appointment.

F-1 Advisors

F-1 International Student Advisors (F-1 Advisor), also known as Designated School Officials (DSO) are assigned based on the first letter of a student’s surname. Please refer to the list below to identify your assigned F-1 Advisor. Note: you also have an Academic Advisor within your academic department. They are different from your F-1 Advisor.

Virtual Office Hours

During Virtual Office Hours (VOH), students can meet with their F-1 Advisor to discuss questions related to F-1 processes. We encourage all students to carefully review the information available on F-1 Processes beforehand to make the most of the limited time available during VOH. Appointments are not required to attend VOH; students can simply click on their F-1 Advisor’s photo below to view their VOH schedule and Zoom link. Please carefully check the VOH Announcements section for any schedule updates from your F-1 Advisor.

If you join your F-1 Advisor’s VOH at the designated time and before the session ends, you will be placed in the Zoom waiting room. Wait times may vary depending on the number of students and the complexity of their questions. For example, if there are ten students ahead of you and each needs approximately 5–6 minutes, your wait could be an hour or more. As long as you join before the published end time, you will be seen.

To help us assist you efficiently:

• Ensure your Zoom display name matches your name as it appears on your passport/I-20 (no nicknames or initials).
• Ensure your mic and speakers are working.
• Be ready to provide your UFID number.

For questions specific to your case, please meet with your assigned F-1 Advisor. If you are unable to attend your F-1 Advisor’s VOH, you may submit your inquiry via the Contact Us form. Additionally, General VOH is available to all students.
