Course Enrollment
As a J-1 Research Scholar, Professor, Short-Term Scholar, or Student Intern, the primary purpose of your J program is to engage in research, teaching, and cultural exchange. These are not student visa categories.
If you enroll in a degree-seeking program, you must change to a student visa (J-1 visa or F-1 visa) before starting classes.
If you are a J-1 Research Scholar or Professor, you may engage in incidental study as long as:
- You continue to participate fully in all program activities as outlined in the form DS-2019;
- You only take one class per semester;
- This class must be at UF
- This class must be online
- Your class does not disrupt or replace any program activities;
- Your class is not taken as part of a degree-seeking or certificate program.
You must contact your EVS advisor before enrolling in any classes.
If you are a J-1 Short-Term Scholar or Student Intern, you are not permitted to enroll in any classes.
