Transfer
If you are already present in the United States and want to transfer your J program to or from the University of Florida, you must request a SEVIS transfer.
Important Considerations
- Your SEVIS record can only be held by one US institution at a time.
- If you have obtained a 212(e) waiver, then your SEVIS record cannot be transferred.
- The new institution must be authorized to host your specific J-1 category.
- Your SEVIS ID number will remain the same after the transfer.
- Your J-2 dependents' SEVIS records will transfer with yours.
- You must be in good standing and have maintained valid status to qualify for a SEVIS transfer.
- There can be no gaps in program participation.
- EVS highly recommends that you wait to resign from your previous position until you have received approval for the transfer from the immigration advisor at the transfer-in institution. A job offer does not guarantee a successful SEVIS transfer.
