Transfer

If you are already studying in the United States and want to transfer your J program to or from the University of Florida, you must request a SEVIS transfer. 

 

Important Considerations 

  • Your SEVIS record can only be held by one US institution at a time. 
  • If you have obtained a 212(e) waiver, then your SEVIS record cannot be transferred.  
  • The new institution must be authorized to host J-1 students.  
  • Your SEVIS ID number will remain the same after the transfer. 
  • Your J-2 dependents' SEVIS records will transfer with yours.  
  • You must be in good standing and have maintained valid status to qualify for a SEVIS transfer.
