Tate Quinones

International Scholars Program Advisor

Tate Quinones is the International Scholars Program Advisor in the Office of Global Learning at the University of Florida International Center. She earned her B.S. in Psychology, B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Arabic, and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Bilingual and ESOL Education from the University of Florida.

Tate is passionate about international education and intercultural exchange. She coordinates the International Scholars Program and works with UF students as they internationalize their college experience. Through advising, programming, and mentorship, she helps students connect with global learning opportunities, engage across cultures, and document their experiences through an ePortfolio.

Her love of languages and cultures has taken her around the world. She studied Arabic in Oman, volunteered as an English teacher in Panama, and served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Jordan. After her Fulbright year, she continued working at an Arabic language institute in Amman before returning to the United States.

Before joining the UF International Center, Tate spent a decade at UF's English Language Institute, where she coordinated cultural immersion programs and created opportunities for international students to build community and engage with campus life. She supervised Language Assistants, and expanded the institute's speech act curriculum to give students authentic opportunities to learn and practice language in real-world contexts.

Having gained so much from her own intercultural experiences, Tate is passionate about helping students discover similar opportunities through ISP. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time in nature, and visiting family in Jordan, Slovenia, and Oregon.
