Maria Leite, Brazilian born artist and educator, shares the intersectional identities of the Latinx/Afro Brazilian communities and the similarities to the African American communities of West and North Central Florida and their sacred third places. Maria received her art degree from the University of Janeiro and her EdD from the University of West Florida.

 

 

Elio Piedra is an award-winning musician who entertains audiences around the country.

Elio Piedra was born in Cuba and began his musical career at the age of 10 at the Arts Conservatory Raul Sanchez. At 15, he gained entry into the National Conservatory of Music with Carlos Hidalgo where he continued to hone his craft, even touring Cuba with the symphony orchestra.
