The University of Florida International Center (UFIC) is here to assist students with making a smooth transition to U.S. culture and student life at the University of Florida (UF). Each year, UF hosts more than 6,000 international students on its beautiful campus.

Within the UFIC, Exchange Visitor Services (EVS) is responsible for administering the J-1 program and supporting international students who study at UF with a J-1 student visa.

J-1 student visas are part of the broader Exchange Visitor Program managed by the U.S. Department of State for the purpose of cultural and intellectual exchange. As a result, programs must fit specific criteria to qualify for J-1 visas. For more information about the differences between J-1 and F-1 visas, click here

This information does not apply to students from partner institutions with which UF has reciprocal agreements. Information for Partner School Exchange Students can be found here.
