On May 15th Dr. Mary Risner, Assoc. Director of the Center for Latin American Studies, and Paloma Rodriguez, Director of the Office of Global Learning, co-led a workshop on virtual exchange for administrators and faculty from institutions from all over the world. The event was hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University as part of the Annual Hanseatic League of Universities conference, which brought together delegates from 24 countries including the Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Brazil, Mexico, Hungary, Italy, Albania, Germany, and the US. The one-day workshop introduced attendees to virtual exchange, provided an overview of its implementation at UF, and concluded with a strategic planning session. This workshop not only opens new opportunities for collaboration in the area of virtual exchange between UF and institutions abroad, but it is also a first step towards a more coordinated approach for COIL/Virtual exchange in colleges and universities in the State of Florida.
