The School of Art and Art History and the Center for Arts, Migration and Entrepreneurship invite you to join us for nine days celebrating futurist, surrealist, and fantastical Black diasporic creative expression!

From film screenings to fashion shows, fine art exhibitions to musical improv performances, join us as we explore radical imagining and engaging conversations in futurist thought, surrealism and fantasy.

All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise stated.

HISTORY DOG PERFORMANCE at Baby J's bar 
Enjoy a live musical performance by electroacoustic improvisational ensemble History Dog from NYC (admission required at the door).

Thursday, January 18 | 6:00 - 8:00pm 
NEPTUNE FROST at UF Innovate 
Join us for a film screening of Neptune Frost, an Afrofuturist romantic musical. Come early to enjoy refreshments, doors open at 5:30, film at 6 followed by a panel discussion. Music by improv group History Dog at 8:30

VEILED, HOODED & HIDDEN at Gainesville Fine Arts Association 
Curated by Anani Blakey, this Afro and Black art exhibition explores the erasure of Black history in public education. Join us at the reception on Jan 19, exhibit runs from 1/17-1/20

Tuesday, January 23 | 6:15 - 8:15pm 
VISITING ARTIST WAYNE HODGE at UF Little Hall, room 113 
Contemporary artist Wayne Hodge presents a guest lecture of his work. His practice explores the relationship between history, media and fantasies of race and desire with imagery drawn from the media, historical and science fiction sources.

Thursday, January 25 | 6:00 - 9:00pm 
ART AFTER DARK at the Harn Museum 
This Afrofuturism celebration will feature an exhibition on Surrealism, music by sound artist Quincy Osborne, and a Futurist fashion show and costume party. All are welcome to participate, costumes are encouraged!
