Dr. Michael Kung

Director for Global Education, College of Design, Construction and Planning

Dr. Michael Kung is Director of Global Education at the College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP), where he oversees virtually all things international at the college. Since he has been in this position, he has greatly enhanced DCP’s international reputation. From inviting and welcoming visiting scholars to advising students about study abroad programs to creating a custom welcome orientation for new international students, Dr. Kung does all he can to make DCP’s international visitors feel like they are a part of the DCP family and UF community. He actively travels throughout Asia, negotiating possible strategic alliances while simultaneously spreading the DCP name and recruiting for DCP’s degree programs. For his master’s program alone, he has managed to recruit students from 14 different countries; 67% of the students who have enrolled in this degree have been international. At the same time, he has also been conducting and publishing research on international student perceptions towards online learning, presenting at domestic and international conferences, and guest speaking at different international universities. As the world becomes more globalized, Dr. Kung has been ensuring that international guests are satisfied with their academic and cultural experiences while at the College of Design, Construction and Planning and the University of Florida.
