We hope that your experience running a study abroad program was excellent, and you continue to offer this wonderful opportunity to students. We encourage faculty to reflect upon the overall success of the program, how the itinerary complimented the academic and program SLOs, their success in engaging students in cultural exploration and more. SAS encourages faculty to share their experiences with staff and notify us if there were any issues so we can address them for the following year.

While your time abroad has ended, there are still a few tasks to complete in order to close out your study abroad program:

  1. Submit grades to Grade-A-Gator according to your department/college deadline
  2. Encourage all students to complete a program/course evaluation
  3. Submit the program debriefing report to UFIC within 30 days of program completion
  4. Reconcile all program and travel expenditures
    1. For travel expenditures: Complete an expense report for any travel-related costs. Please ensure that you have kept all receipts and then verify that each expense was included in the budget. Click here for instructions on creating an expense report.
    2. For program advance expenditures: Within 10 days of the end date of your program, please email Jackie Johnson all the original receipts along with a spreadsheet that itemizes each expense (faculty expenses, student expenses, lodging, etc.).

In addition to completing these administrative tasks, faculty should continue to connect with their students to guide them through re-entry and provide them with the tools to be able to effectively discuss how their time abroad has impacted them – whether that be personally, academically, or professionally. We encourage you to host informal gatherings with your students upon return and facilitate discussions concerning reverse culture shock, how to remain connected with the host culture/academic discipline while at UF and showing them the other opportunities now open to them because of their experiences abroad. For more information or to partner with UFIC to host re-entry meetings, please contact your Study Abroad Advisor and/or view our Study Abroad Alumni webpage for inspiration.
