Dr. Joon-Kon Chung, a professor of political science in Japan and the chief scholar of the Eurasia Foundation (Tokyo), presented the lecture entitled "A New Community beyond the Nation State," in the UF interdisciplinary humanities course "Seeing Eurasia: Perceptions and Imaginations" on August 26, 2025.
Dr. Chung's lecture opened up philosophical and cultural discussions on the significant concepts of "good community," "Asian community," and "cultural identity." The course is taught by UF architectural professor Dr. Hui Zou and is funded by a grant from the Eurasia Foundation (Tokyo). The invited speakers in this course include Dr. Alberto Perez-Gomez (McGill University), Dr. Eugene Wang (Harvard University), and Dr. Nancy Steinhardt (University of Pennsylvania), among others, in the fields of architectural history, art history, religion, and literature related to the Eurasian context.
