Dr. Raymond Mark Kirton is a citizen of Guyana and the holder of the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (Distinction) from the University of Guyana, Master of Science (M.Sc.) from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from The University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A. His professional experience spans more than four decades of university teaching, research, and administration. He is currently an Honorary Senior Fellow at the Institute of International Relations at the University of The West Indies. In 2017, he received a national award – The Golden Arrow of Achievement – from the Government of Guyana for his contribution to higher education and regional integration. He has published several refereed articles and book chapters and has co-edited books including “Governance, Conflict Analysis and Conflict Resolution”, (with Cedric Grant) and “The Changing Political and Socio-Economic Environment in The Caribbean and Latin America: Prospects and Challenges” (with Paulo Gustavo Correa and Marlon Anatol). Dr. Kirton’s current research interests include regional integration, Latin American politics and government and migration and human security.
