The Study Abroad Peer Advisors (SAPA) are excited to offer scholarships ranging from $500 to $1000 for students studying abroad in the Spring, Fall, Academic Year, or Summer term who demonstrate a need for financial assistance! We are looking to award students who show a passion for study abroad, a drive for personal growth and a genuine interest in immersing themselves within their host country's culture and community. Eligibility
  • Current undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking student
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Students receiving academic credit from a study abroad program
  • Must have begun a study abroad application with the UF International Center
  • Must be studying on an in-person (not virtual) program
  • Must be enrolled in 12+ credits (fall/spring) or 6+ credits (summer)
  • Study abroad program must be at least 4 months (fall/spring) or 4 weeks (summer) in length

Application Requirements
SAPA Scholarship Essay
(max 500 words)

This essay should demonstrate your interest in study abroad, exploring different cultures, and sharing those experiences with others. Please answer the following questions in your response:

  • Why did you choose your study abroad program? 
  • How does your program align with your future personal or professional goals? 
  • How do you plan on promoting study abroad to fellow students upon returning from your program?
Statement of Financial Need Please provide a brief statement of financial need about how this scholarship will help fund your program abroad, and explain any extenuating circumstances that would prohibit you from studying abroad due to cost. 
Scholarship Applicant Information Questionnaire
Letter of Recommendation You will be asked to upload a letter of recommendation to your online application. We prefer letters from professors or academic advisors, but will accept one from a supervisor (current or former) as well. Letters should attest to your academic capabilities, interest in study abroad, and qualities that make you a good candidate for a scholarship.
