The SERSAS 2025 Conference will address the profound challenges and unprecedented opportunities facing African Studies today. As Africa-based scholars question the value of external study and contend with under-resourced local research environments, conventional disciplinary approaches struggle to capture the rapid changes in African lives, livelihoods, beliefs, and practices. The conference will explore innovative and interdisciplinary methods that Africanist scholars are developing to address these challenges and opportunities, fostering new models of local and global cooperation.
