This week, the Office of Global Learning hosted two COIL coordinators from Central America, whose visit was funded by the U.S. embassy-sponsored project: "Expanding and Embedding COIL Virtual Exchange at Honduran and Central American Universities – A Regional Partnership Initiative with The United States." Laura Caunter from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH) and Laura Saborío Oviedo from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) in Costa Rica met with faculty from across the University to exchange insights on managing distance education programs and discuss possible areas for collaboration, including how to expand on existing virtual exchange (VE) partnerships. Ms. Caunter and Ms. Saborío Oviedo were guest speakers at the Global Learning Awards Banquet on April 1st, where they discussed their experiences establishing VE/COIL initiatives at their institutions and explored ways to build on the collaborations created through our mutual participation in the U.S. embassy's COIL initiative.
We look forward to expanding our collaborations with Ms. Caunter and Ms. Saborío Oviedo and their institutions in the near future!
