The University of Florida welcomes students from other institutions to apply to our study abroad programs.  While many of our programs have limitations on the number of students we can accept, others are able to accommodate non-UF students or at least consider a non-UF student’s application.

Program Eligibility
Non-UF students wishing to study abroad through UF will need to participate in a UF Sponsored or UF Exchange program. (Please note, most UF Exchange programs are limited to UF degree-seeking students and non-UF students will not be able to participate.)  In order to be eligible, students need to be in a degree-seeking program at their home institution at the time the program starts and meet all other eligibility requirements for the program (some exceptions may be made with prior approval from the Program Director and the Director of Study Abroad).

Application Procedures
The majority of the application will be completed online, but non-UF students will need to submit additional materials in order to complete their applications.  Please see the general outline below for the application procedures. For detailed information on completing a study abroad application as a non-UF student, click here.

  • Click on Program Search on our menu. Once you find your program, please double-check the program information to make sure that it is the correct program.
  • When you are ready to start the application, click on Apply Now and create your username and password following the procedures given.
  • After starting your application, please submit your Signature Verification Form with a copy of your passport or Driver’s License (make sure you sign the document and that your preferred ID also shows your signature). Once we have received your Signature Verification Form, immediately complete the Signature Documents and Questionnaires located in your online application.
  • Please remember to send your Official Transcript from your current/most recent institution and to pay your Deposit/Service Charge in your online application as soon as you can. Additional paperwork such as the Home Institution Approval Form and the Non-Degree Registration Request Receipt) should be mailed or emailed to the advisor in charge of your program.

Financial Aid and Consortium Agreements
All financial aid for non-UF students will be administered through the financial aid office at their home institution. Non-UF students should request that their home institution send a Consortium Agreement to UFIC by email to Linda Gritman. Once UFIC has approved the student’s participation in their chosen program, the Consortium Agreement will be completed and returned to the financial aid office at their home institution. Non-UF students using financial aid must provide proof of aid for any deferment of program fees by having their financial aid advisor complete the form Confirmation of Financial Aid Award for Non-UF Students.

Final Grades and Transcript Requests
Once you complete your study abroad program, your final grades will be posted to your UF record. You can access your unofficial transcript in the university portal, one.uf.edu. We encourage you to review this to ensure all coursework and grades are displayed as expected before requesting an official transcript. Official University of Florida transcript orders are facilitated by the National Student Clearinghouse for $10 and can be requested HERE. It is your responsibility to request a transcript and to double-check with your home institution on how your credits will transfer and to which address your UF transcript should be sent. We recommend utilizing electronic delivery if acceptable to the recipient.
