The Kathleen Diamond Scholarship is a Summer Study Abroad Scholarship that is awarded though The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Each year the selection committee comprised of faculty from the Departments of Languages, Literatures & Cultures; European Studies; and Spanish & Portuguese Studies along with a representative from the UF International Center award this $1000 scholarship to 3-9 eligible candidates.
About Kathleen K. Diamond
Ms. Diamond has been involved professionally and recognized globally with foreign language studies and interlingual communication since 1968. As the founder and CEO of Language Learning Enterprises, Inc. (LLE), Ms. Diamond’s mission is to provide excellence and accuracy within the foreign language industry. Ms. Diamond is a recipient of the Femmes chefs d'entreprises mondiales Lifetime achievement Award for Woman Entrepreneur of the World and serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Women’s Business Research. Ms. Diamond is an active member in Woman Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), United States Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR), and is the current Chair of the Advocacy Committee for the Association of Language Companies (ALC). Ms. Diamond earned both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the University of Florida.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- 3.0 GPA or higher;
- Current undergraduate degree-seeking student;
- Studying on an in-person (not virtual) summer study abroad program;
- Taking a language course abroad; OR majoring, minoring, or pursuing a certificate in a foreign language.
Applications open in early September and close in early February.
