UF's DCP Construction Management recently visited the American University of Kurdistan (AUK), the University of Duhok (UOD), the University of
Kurdistan Hewler (UKH), and the University of Zakho. During this visit, the University of Kurdistan Hewler proposed a 2-week summer program for their college students to come to UF to learn about the UF/US higher education system, cultural understanding, and graduate programs at UF.
The UF College of Design, Construction and Planning has a two-year grant with AUK and has contributed to building a strong relationship and collaboration between the faculty of AUK and DCP. We offered many pieces of training, establishing BIM Lab and Center for Excellence in Sustainability. During this visit, AUK also proposed to establish a LEED Lab at AUK based on our LEED Lab, this will be the first LEED Lab established in Iraq. In addition, we are collaborating with AUK on a grant for a Cultural Preservation Proposal for historic sites in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. In addition, three faculty expressed interest in virtual exchange after attending UF International Center training on Virtual exchange in spring 2022.
