Earlier this month, UF faculty, staff, and students participated in the 2025 International Virtual Exchange Conference (IVEC) held in Heraklion, Greece—joining sessions both in person and online as attendees and presenters. UF presenters from this year's conference included:

  • Carrie Martins from the Office of Global Learning, Dr. Talline Martins from UF’s Graduate School, Dr. Matthew Traum from UF’s Wertheim College of Engineering, Ms. Nicole Kershner, UF engineering graduate student, and Dr. Paloma Rodriguez led a session on Building Bridges through Virtual Exchange/COIL Professional Development for Graduate Students: Supporting Student, Instructor and Institutional Goals.

  • Dr.  Megan Mocko from UF’s Warrington College of Business virtually presented a poster on a study titled, Assessing Intercultural Critical Thinking and Communication in Undergraduate Statistics and/or Data Science Courses: A COIL Collaboration Across Three Countries and Four Institutions, with her co-presenters, Professor Wanchunzi Yu of Bridgewater State University and Hernandez De la Cerda of Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico).

  • Dr. Paloma Rodriguez, Director of the Office of Global Learning, presented a workshop titled, Implementing COIL/VE for Staff: Learn how, with her co-presenters, Ana Cristina Biondo Salomão, Assistant Provost for International Affairs at UNESP (Brazil) and Elena Estañ, Head of Mobility Office at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Spain).

IVEC is the largest and most prominent event on Virtual Exchange, providing a forum for instructors, administrators, instructional designers, and educational leaders from institutions around the world interested in technology, international education, and new pedagogies.
