Thursday, November 16, 2023 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
NSC (Nuclear Science Building) room 520, (1929 Stadium Rd, Gainesville, Florida)

This program offers immersive experience in Design Thinking as a tool for innovative idea and strategy development in engineering. The program is created in partnership with POSTECH, the Global Education Center for Engineers (GECE), and various industry partners in Korea.

The program curriculum covers the entire framework of the design thinking process. Participants will build an understanding of the “user’s need” by engaging in empathetic interactions, creating and testing rapid prototypes, and building blocks of a business case. Topics covered will include: human-centered design; needs finding; interviewing techniques; data management; ideation; and developing and testing prototypes.  UF faculty and POSTECH faculty will supervise the students.

Students will learn to function and communicate effectively in a multicultural setting, thus increasing their intercultural awareness and learning to navigate the role of engineering in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context. Weekend social programs include events pre-organized by POSTECH and APA. These will include excursions to cultural sites, museums, and industry site visits.
