Paul Silva, a UF student for the Department of Political Science, has won the best paper prize and will present at the Florida International Summit next week. The event is organized by the Florida Network for Global Studies in which UFIC and OGRE participates. This was a statewide competition. Paul will receive a $500 prize.

Silva's paper included a detailed review on the the Russian annexation of Crimea and its continuing support of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine. As this represent one of the most serious threats to transatlantic economic and military security in the post-Cold War era.

The 2018 Florida International Summit will be held on January 30, 2018 at the University of Central Florida on the topic of : Transatlantic Security, and addresses the important relations shared between the U.S. and European countries and political institutions.
