This pandemic has been a challenging and unpredictable time and has exacerbated pre-existing barriers faced by underserved groups. In response, a group of UF student leaders banded together and founded contraCOVID Gainesville, an effort to connect underserved groups to updated information about resources in Gainesville.

Thus far, they have created comprehensive, reader-friendly resource guides in EnglishSpanishMandarin, and Korean. They are also conducting an IRB-approved research study with Dr. Elizabeth Wood of the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions to assess community leaders’ perspectives of local resources and needs during the pandemic.

contraCOVID Gainesville has shared resource guides to organizations including the Alachua Safety Net Collaborative, Equal Access Clinic Network, Mobile Outreach Clinic, and Days for Girls; we are also in the process of connecting with One Health at UF.
