The research that Carrie Martins, Coordinator of Faculty Development Initiatives in the Office of Global Learning, conducted for her master's thesis completed through the UF Center for Latin American Studies last year was recently published as an open access, peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Virtual Exchange. "Beyond borders: Building capacity and enhancing institutional resources for U.S.-Mexico virtual exchange initiatives" showcases the perspectives of experienced VE instructors from across the U.S. and Mexico on the challenges they have faced when implementing VE and the institutional resources they believe to be most beneficial for this work. While previous studies have focused mainly on the institutional resources that instructors need to get started with VE, this work addressed the question of what support would be useful to instructors who are already engaged with and implementing VE. Dr. Mary Risner, Associate Director of the UF Center for Latin American Studies, who served as advisor for the thesis, has co-authored this study.
