On March 11, 2025, UFIC welcomed a distinguished delegation from South Korea, including representatives from KAIST GCC (Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Global Commercialization Center), ETRI (Electronics Telecommunication Research Institute), and Y-Tech, Inc. During a welcome reception at the UFIC Large Conference Room, discussions centered on fostering global collaboration in technology commercialization, research, and innovation.
Dr. Yong-Kyu "YK" Yoon, Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the Multidisciplinary nano and Microsystems (MnM) Laboratory presented an update on recent UF semiconductor work and progress.
The visit aligns with UF’s growing focus on semiconductor research, highlighted by the recent launch of the UF Semiconductor Research Institute. With UF emerging as a leader in advanced semiconductor technology and AI-driven innovation, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore partnerships between UF researchers and South Korean institutions in critical areas such as electronics, telecommunications, and next-generation computing.
This engagement marks a step forward in strengthening international collaboration and expanding UF’s global impact in cutting-edge research and commercialization.
