Dean Marta Wayne of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida recently participated in NAFSA Advocacy Day, held in Washington, D.C. This annual event, organized by NAFSA: Association of International Educators, brings together international education professionals from across the nation to advocate for policies that promote and support international education and global exchange.

During the two-day event, participants received training on legislative issues affecting international education and had the opportunity to meet with members of Congress to share the impact of international students, scholars, and academic collaboration on their campuses and communities. The goal is to ensure lawmakers understand the critical role global engagement plays in higher education and the U.S. economy.

Dean Wayne’s participation reflects the University of Florida’s ongoing commitment to internationalization and leadership in global learning. By taking part in NAFSA Advocacy Day, she helped amplify the university’s voice in national discussions about immigration policy, funding for international programs, and support for diverse academic exchanges.

Her presence at this influential event underscores UF’s dedication to creating a welcoming, globally connected campus that prepares students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
