Dr. Robert McCleery
Fulbright Scholar
Bob McCleery is a professor at the University of Florida in the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. With his students, he works to improve the understanding of how large-scale anthropogenic changes to the environment (e.g., invasive species, urbanization, intensive agriculture, shrub encroachment, defaunation, sea-level rise) alter animal communities and ultimately impact human well-being. They also work to understand how to recover endangered species and manage wildlife into human-dominated landscapes, such as agricultural and urban settings.
Bob aims to empower students and challenge them to become professionals and responsible informed citizens. He recently returned from a year abroad in South Africa, where he lived and worked at Kruger National Park as part of his Fulbright award.
He lives outside of Gainesville with his wife Amanda, son Jack, Dog Blu and donkeys, Mr. White and Buckity Buck.
