The list of colleges that had the most recipients of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship, the U.S. government’s flagship international-exchange program, has been released. Eighteen colleges were new to the list for the 2022-23 academic year. And nine doctoral institutions, three master’s, five baccalaureate, and one four-year special-focus institution were the top producers of both U.S. scholars and U.S. students.

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs named the University of Florida a Fulbright Top Producing Institution for U.S. Students for the first time in 10 years. This recognition is given to the U.S. colleges and universities that received the highest number of applicants selected for the 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Eleven students from UF were selected for Fulbright awards for academic year 2022-2023.

Japanese Delegation

Shiga University, the first university in Japan to establish a program in Data Science visited UF last week to discuss collaborations in AI with the Provost Office, David Reed, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Academic Initiative Center, and with NVIDIA Corporation.

Their visit to UFIC is the first step in developing an MOU, which we hope will ultimately lead to diverse research and educational partnerships with the University of Florida.

Dean Marta L. Wayne received an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Lifetime Fellow Award!

The International Center is proud of all the outstanding international students who presented and won during the UF Health Cancer Center Research Day 2023.

This event included a judged poster session with prizes for the top trainee posters, three-minute thesis presentations by our Predoctoral Award recipients, and a keynote presentation by Thomas Gajewski, M.D., Ph.D., a nationally renowned cancer researcher, titled “Mechanisms of response versus resistance to cancer immunotherapy.”

On January 25, the Reitz North Lawn was abuzz with students, faculty, and staff alike at our latest Study Abroad Fair! Approximately 70 different departments, programs, and outside providers participated in the Fair, all with a shared goal of highlighting the many study abroad options and resources available to UF students. Those tabling included the Colleges of Agricultural & Life Sciences, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Business, and Health & Human Performance, among others! UFIC looks forward to hosting our next Study Abroad Fair in October 2023.
