Mabel Cardec is the Communications Manager at the University of Florida International Center (UFIC). She oversees UFIC’s communications and marketing efforts to promote the internationalization of the UF campus and to increase the visibility of UFIC’s services. She works closely with the Dean, providing scriptwriting, video production support, and communications policy guidance.

She is the publisher and editor of UFIC’s weekly e-newsletter, UF Global. With more than 4,000 subscribers, UF Global helps raise UF’s profile as a leading international academic institution. She produces UFIC’s annual reports and all marketing publications, co-manages UFIC’s website, oversees UFIC’s social media presence, and coordinates annual campus-wide events such as International Education Week, Fulbright events, and the Global Culture Photo Competition.

In 2024, Mabel participated in her first Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program as both a participant and co-marketing coordinator. In collaboration with colleagues from Cardenal Herrera University (Valencia, Spain) and the University of Florida (Gainesville), she helped facilitate cross-institutional engagement and guided academic conversations over the course of a semester.

Currently, she is managing the migration and redesign of UFIC’s website to TERMINALFOUR (T4), UF’s official web content management system, ensuring consistent branding, security, and accessibility for staff and the public.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Mabel holds a B.A. in Public Communications from the University of Puerto Rico, an M.Ed. in Education from Florida Atlantic University, and an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Florida. She has worked at UFIC since 2006.
