Last October, a delegation of administrative staff from different services and units of CEU went to the United States to make a famtrip to the University of Florida, located in the city of Gainesville. During their visit, they were able to get to know the UF facilities and hold professional meetings with their American counterparts, while sharing their experience in COIL for Staff with their university community.
The CEU delegation, composed of staff from the Marketing, International Relations, People Management, Languages and the Strategic Development and Quality Unit of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, thus culminated its participation in the innovative pilot project COIL for Staff, in which it has worked together with a team from the University of Florida. On behalf of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, a member of the Operational Marketing team joined, who is already working to extend this type of internationalization initiatives to the rest of the group's universities.
Prior to this visit, a group of UF staff had traveled to Valencia to participate in an international week organized by the CEU UCH, under the theme of Virtual Exchange.
During the visit to the United States, our delegation was accompanied by the team of the University of Florida International Center and by the director of its Office for Global Learning, Paloma Rodríguez, who planned personalized agendas for each of the CEU workers.
An opportunity for professional exchange
One of the objectives of this visit, promoted by the Vice-Rectorate of Internationalization and University Life of the CEU UCH, was to establish working meetings with those responsible for different areas and services of the UF to promote new ways of collaboration, share good practices and promote professional exchange between both institutions. This is also the spirit of the COIL for Staff projects that, in a virtual way, link workers from various university services with an international counterpart to develop common collaborative projects.
On this occasion, the CEU and UF teams have been able to extend this international cooperation in person, and in an extraordinary way, to implement operational improvements in their respective institutions. Thus, in addition to the working meetings planned for each of the teams, during the visit to Gainesville professional meetings have also been scheduled with other staff members, practically in all areas and faculties. Isabel García, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Mary Kay Carodine, Head of scholarships and member of the Student Life Division of the UF, and Florida Bridgewater-Alford, Associate Director of Learning, Development and Integration of the university and responsible for the Campus Communications Outreach Initiative through UF's Communicators Network are some of the people with whom the CEU team has had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and good operational practices in the services.
In addition to these professional meetings, the members of the CEU delegation also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the University of Florida and some of its associated centers, such as the Natural History Museum, the Harn Museum or its audiovisual production center, which has several radio and television stations and its own advertising agency on campus.
