Rethinking Leadership Across Cultures
Project Description:
Mixed groups of students from UF and University of Naples, Italy work as a team to analyze case studies, discuss cultural differences in perspectives and solutions, and jointly create a podcast sharing their insights.
Learning Outcomes:
- Collaborate effectively in diverse, cross-cultural teams.
- Strengthen analytical skills by examining a complex case study across different perspectives and cultures.
- Translate analytical findings into concise insights and a compelling narrative.
- Apply project management strategies to coordinate tasks, manage timelines, and balance roles within a newly formed team environment.
- Continue to build cultural competence by evaluating how problem-solving approaches differ by culture.

Sequence of Activities:
- Students recorded an icebreaker activity on video responding to the question, "Who am I in 30 seconds?" which involved identifying a meaningful object that represents them and symbolizes their unique contribution to the team.
- Students arranged 2-3 online meetings to discuss one or more othe case studies to exchange cultural viewpoints.
- Final project included each group designing a podcast summarizing their reflections on their chosen case.
- Following the completion of the final project, each team of students reflected and discussed their experience and presented their insights to the class.
