Once you are approved for a study abroad program, a budget will be sent to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFA). However, this will be done only if you indicate that you plan to use financial aid via the ‘Payment Questionnaire’ within your study abroad application. Your financial aid will then disburse after the UF semester begins, but no earlier than 10 days prior to your study abroad program’s start date. Note that sometimes not all aid disburses at once; you may receive several disbursements throughout the semester.
All financial aid eligibility is determined by SFA. You must speak with them to determine what aid can be applied to the cost of your study abroad program, including scholarships. We encourage you to speak with them prior to committing to a study abroad program. To contact SFA, please call 352-392-1275, visit their office in S107 Criser Hall, or email sfa-help@mail.ufl.edu using the subject line “Study Abroad". They also have a section of their website dedicated to study abroad information; see here.
