Folia de Reis is a beloved Brazilian folk-Catholic tradition celebrated between Christmas and Epiphany. Blending music, faith, and community, it reflects the country's diverse cultural roots and quest for dignity and freedom.
This presentation explores its connection to the story of the Three Kings and highlights the vital contributions of Afro-descendant communities that transformed it into a powerful expression of collective faith and identity in Brazil, as well as hierarchical relationships between rural and urban populations in Brazil.
