Join the Bob Graham Center for Public Service for a Global Film Night! They will be screening Kedi, the visually stunning documentary that captures the heart of Istanbul—not through politics or policy, but through the city’s most beloved and surprising storytellers: its cats.
Hundreds of thousands of cats have roamed the metropolis of Istanbul freely for thousands of years, wandering in and out of people’s lives, impacting them in ways only an animal who lives between the worlds of the wild and the tamed can.
Through these encounters, the documentary Kedi paints a vivid portrait of Turkey’s vibrant cultural capital, revealing how ordinary interactions with animals become extraordinary insights into identity, belonging, and the rhythms of urban life.
While the film is about cats, it’s also about so much more: the relationship between people and place, the interdependence of communities, and the ways culture is lived and experienced beyond politics.
