Introduced by Dean Marta L. Wayne on potential international implications, a panel of AI ethics experts discussed the many considerations and ethical challenges of Artificial Intelligence such as lack of transparency of AI tools, AI decisions not always intelligible to humans or not being neutral, AI-based decisions susceptible to inaccuracies, and sometimes inserted bias. Surveillance practices for data gathering and privacy were also discussed.

This successful study abroad program hosted in the Summer, allowed students to further their knowledge of European life, economy, history, & politics in a highly immersive environment.

Through coursework and site visits, students became more knowledgeable about global problems affecting the Mediterranean - Southern Italy in particular. International Student Services and Exchange Student Services hosted the F-1 Undergraduate and J-1 Exchange Students Orientation at the Reitz Union. Students attended campus tours guided by the UF Cicerones as well as presentations by campus partners, after a warm welcome by Dean Marta L. Wayne. F-1 and J-1 regulations were covered. This busy and eventful day included tabling by campus partners such as the Social Security Administration, and the Florida Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles.

Dr. Kathleen Colverson was recently in Rwanda and Ethiopia to facilitate workshops and undertake research with graduate students at the University of Rwanda and Addis Ababa University. The research was part of planned work with the USAID funded Livestock Systems Innovation Lab (https://livestocklab.ifas.ufl.edu/) and involved examining the roles of smallholder male and female farmers in both the pork and poultry value chains.
