The Center of African Studies hosted a day of presentations and discussions with UF graduate researchers tackling environmental topics in Africa. The discussants provided feedback and insights. The event also included an informal lunch with UF faculty, participants, and attendees to exchange ideas and professional development resources.

The UF Gator International Focus Team (UFGIFT) hosted an “International Tea Time” event where participants could meet, talk with, play games, and simply spend time getting to know one another. It was a great opportunity to learn about other people and make friends from around the world.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) and Open Doors® have recognized the University of Florida (UF) for its enduring commitment to international education. According to their historical records, UF has been reporting data to Open Doors since its inception in 1949. In honor of this milestone, UF has been awarded the Open Doors 75 Seal of Excellence.

Open Doors® serves as a comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars in the United States, as well as U.S. students studying abroad. Dr. Kathleen Colverson from the USAID funded Livestock Systems Innovation Lab, (LSIL), and Arati Joshi, Ph.D. student from Ag Education and Communications recently traveled to Nepal to conduct a number of workshops related to increasing equitable household nutrition with vulnerable populations.  

The workshops, entitled " Engaging Men and Boys in Equitable Household Nutrition” were provided to graduate students and faculty at the Agriculture and Forestry University in Rampur, Nepal. In celebration of International Education Week, this Q&A session about Careers in International Public Service offered a unique chance to learn about the educational and career paths that led two distinguished Gator alumni to prominent roles within the U.S. government. 

Participants had the opportunity to talk with Samantha Gildea and Thomas C. R. Reynolds. Samantha Gildea works in the National Security Council in the Executive Office of the President at the White House where she focuses on China and Taiwan affairs, while Thomas C. R. Reynolds is an experienced international trade and investment lawyer, and practiced law in the private sector for over a decade.

My Journey, My Learning: Experiences of an Indian Fulbrighter

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Misra is a Professor and Director of the Centre for Policy Research in Higher Education at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi, India. Pradeep is a 2024-2025 Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the UF College of Education. His Fulbright project title is Policies and Practices of Integrating Technology for EQUAL Educational Opportunities in US Universities: Lessons and Cautions for Indian Universities.
