Dean Marta Wayne welcomed the newest cohort of faculty and staff to the UF Virtual Exchange (VE) Training last month, commenting on the importance of their VE engagement to expand the accessibility of international education opportunities at UF. Last week, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs recognized the University of Florida for being one of the colleges and universities with the highest number of faculty and administrators selected for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. Danielle Arnwine is the Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter here at the International Center. In her role, Danielle advises students interested in applying for the Peace Corps about the ins and outs of the process, including helping to match students’ degrees and experiences with the right volunteering program: “I conceptualize my role as a resource for students. I help them look for applications that are interesting to them, help them prepare, help them connect to volunteers that have experience that they’re interested in.”

Congratulations to Dr. Matthew J. Traum on completing the Center for Teaching Excellence’s Global Teaching and Learning Certificate! To earn the certificate, Dr. Traum participated in the Fall 2021 Virtual Exchange Training with the Office of Global Learning, then went on to implement VE projects with partners in the Philippines and Egypt. Dr. Traum has also published an article and presented at multiple conferences about his virtual exchange experiences.

The Office of Global Learning has launched UF’s second COIL4Staff program, in partnership with Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera in Spain. During the program, UF staff from seven departments across the University will collaborate with peers at CEU in similar roles to share their experiences and explore potential improvements for their respective professional areas.

Virtual Exchange/COIL programs deepen knowledge, broaden perspectives, foster personal growth, and open doors to new international friendships and professional opportunities for students, faculty, and staff alike.
