The UF in Pavia Engineering and Arts in Italy program has started and will run through August 8, 2021. The group of ten students from the University of Florida who arrived in Pavia are attending an Intensive program in Physics organized by the University of Pavia with the Globec Center, the Alma Mater Ticinensis Foundation and Learn International. Students will reside in Palazzo Vistarino, the seat of the international courses that the Foundation co-organizes and manages with the University.

Dr. Kathleen Colverson Receives Fulbright Award for Ecuador

Congratulations to Dr. Kathleen Colverson, Associate Research Scientist at IFAS UF, for receiving the Fulbright Scholar Award for research in Ecuador for the Spring of 2022. She will be working with Drs. Myriam Paredes and Steven Sherwood of FLACSO University to study ways to better integrate men and boys into rural household nutrition. This is an area she has been working on in other countries with both the USAID Livestock and Food Safety Labs, and is of interest in South America as well.

In early 2020, Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Arts in Medicine (and recent Global Learning Institute fellow), Jeffrey Pufahl, conducted an international collaboration between UF and a local theatre company in Mumbai, India. Funded by the US Department of State, the project goal was to create an original play that would shift Indian audiences towards greater acceptance of the LGBTQ+ population. When city mosques like the Hoda Center closed at the pandemic’s start, plans for Eid were uncertain for weeks. A year later, the center is excited to attempt a return to normalcy.
