Before joining UFIC, Darian worked as a Spanish tutor at Valdosta State University (VSU) and later taught Spanish to grades 6-12 as a certified World Language educator in Georgia. In 2019, he moved to Gainesville and began teaching Beginning Spanish courses in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies while pursuing a Master of Arts in Hispanic Linguistics. Darian graduated from UF with his M.A in 2021. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and a dual B.A. with Honors in Interdisciplinary Studies & Spanish from VSU.
As part of his work within OGL, Darian serves as an advisor for undergraduate students enrolled in the International Scholars and Peace Corp Prep programs. He also supports other OGL programs that involve faculty development, including the Virtual Exchange Initiative and the Global Learning Institute. Darian truly enjoys working with undergraduate students, faculty and staff in programs that challenge the Gator Nation to learn, teach and grow beyond our borders. In his free time, Darian enjoys exploring new places, streaming Spanish-language TV programs, listening to a wide variety of music, and relaxing with family and friends.
